Describe your background and industry experience, and explain how it will help you contribute to the SOCAN Board of Directors?

During my extended terms as a SOCAN Director, I have participated on the following Board committees: Executive Governance Committee, Pension Plan, Tariff, Licensing and Distribution Committee, Membership Committee, Risk Identification and Management Committee, the SOCAN Foundation Committee, where service to our members, SOCAN employees and management are of the utmost importance to all.

As a member of the Board, I will continue to contribute and uphold SOCAN’s vision, values, and business strategies, through good governance practices and advocacy.

The development of new strategic plans by the SOCAN Board and management will ensure a robust future that benefits all SOCAN members.

In your opinion, what issues will be most important to SOCAN members over the next three years?

SOCAN core values are very important to membership that includes inclusivity, diversity, social responsibility, and creative support for its songwriters, composers, and publisher members.

SOCAN’s important strategic plans address challenging technical issues that will ensure timely, efficient and accurate collections from traditional media and digital services as larger data capacity and processing demands unfold.

New technologies and business models are constantly under management review to minimize digital disruption, and potential increased competition. SOCAN will continue to navigate the threats and opportunities these challenges present to reflect fair, equitable, and efficient distributions to all SOCAN members.
