Éditorial Avenue (QC, FR)

Describe your background and industry experience, and explain how it will help you contribute to the SOCAN Board of Directors?

I have been a publisher since 1976. I was a musician, producer and manager and I have been a full-time publisher since 1990. I previously sat on several boards: ADISQ, SODRAC, APEM, MPC, Musicaction, CMRRA, CSHF. I have won 9 Félix awards, the SOCAN Award of Publisher of the Year twice as well as the Christopher J. Reed Award. I am currently a board member of SOCAN and MPC as well as the Commission de la musique et du spectacle (music and entertainment commission) at SODEC. I authored two books on music publishing, published in 2018 and 2020, and I am the managing director of Éditorial Avenue. My vast experience in the industry will undoubtedly be an asset to SOCAN and its members.

In your opinion, what issues will be most important to SOCAN members over the next three years?

Over the next three years, I believe that SOCAN must work to increase streaming revenues for all its members, improve the collection and distribution of concert rights, promote a complementary approach to CMRRA regarding reproduction rights, and better respond to the day-to-day needs and expectations of its author and publisher members.Â
